Frequently asked questions
How to Reserve Your Place
can secure their place while we confirm final group numbers.
Step 1 — Reserve Your Place
Secure your place with a fully refundable reservation deposit of NZD $500 per
person at this stage. This allows you to hold a place on the tour while we confirm
the final group numbers. Your deposit remains fully refundable until the tour is
confirmed.
Tour confirmation date: 22nd July 2026
Step 2 — Tour Confirmation
Approximately three months before departure or before, we confirm whether the tour
will proceed based on the minimum group size. Once confirmed, guests will be
invited to make the second payment to secure their booking. At this stage the
journey is officially confirmed and we begin finalising arrangements with our
accommodation and local partners.
Please note cancellation charges may apply after this stage
Step 3 — Final Payment
The remaining balance is due 60 days before departure. This allows time for
guests to organise travel insurance and international flights before the journey
begins.
If the Tour Does Not Reach Minimum Numbers
In the unlikely event that minimum numbers are not reached, the tour will not
proceed and all reservation deposits will be refunded in full.
Why We Use This Process
Because New Era Tours operates small-group journeys, this approach allows us to:
• keep group sizes personal
• confirm tours with the right number of guests
• provide clarity for everyone before final payments are made
Payment Method:
• Bank Transfer
• Credit Card (bank surcharge may apply)
• Other
To summarise tour investment process:
Reserve your place → $500 deposit
Tour confirmed (3 months before departure) → second payment
Final balance → 60 days before departure
If you have any questions about the booking process, we’re always happy to talk
things through.
Visa requirements and information
All New Zealand passport holders require a visa to enter India. There are two main
ways to obtain a tourist visa: the digital e-Visa (preferred for most) or a Regular
Paper Visa.
1. The e-Tourist Visa (Recommended)
This is the fastest and most convenient option, managed entirely online.
* Official Website: indianvisaonline.gov.in
* Processing Time: Usually 72 hours to 4 days. Apply at least 2 weeks before
departure to be safe.
* Outcome: You receive an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) via email. You must print this and present it at the airport in India.

2. Regular Paper Visa
If you require a visa for a duration longer than 5 years, or if you prefer a traditional
physical stamp in your passport before you fly, you can apply for a Regular Visa.
* How it works: Fill out the online form under the "Regular/Paper Visa" section on
the official website. You then print the form and submit it (with your physical
passport) to the Indian High Commission or Consulate.
* Submission: Can be done in person or via courier.
* Best for: Travelers wanting a physical visa sticker or those with specific long-term
requirements.
3. Local Indian Diplomatic Missions in NZ
If you are applying for a Regular Paper Visa, you will need to contact the mission
that covers your region:
High Commission of India, Wellington
* Jurisdiction: Wellington region and the South Island.
* Address: 72 Pipitea Street, Thorndon, Wellington 6011.
* Contact: visa.wellington@mea.gov.in | (04) 473 6330 Consulate General of India, Auckland
* Jurisdiction: Northland, Auckland, and Waikato regions.
* Address: Level 13, SAP Tower, 151 Queen Street, Auckland 1010.
* Contact: visa.auckland@mea.gov.in | (09) 610 4430
Important Tips
* Check the URL: Ensure you only use the .gov.in website. Third-party sites often
look official but charge service fees of up to $200 extra.
* Passport Validity: Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your
arrival date and have at least two blank pages.
* Biometrics: For both visa types, your fingerprints will be captured—either at the
mission (Paper Visa) or upon arrival at the airport (e-Visa).
Can NZ Citizens get a Visa on Arrival?
No. As of 2026, New Zealand citizens must have a pre-approved visa (either an
e-Visa or a Regular Paper Visa) before boarding their flight. You will be denied
boarding at the airport in New Zealand if you do not have your visa paperwork ready.
The "E-Arrival Card" (New for 2026)
Regardless of which visa you have, the Indian government has introduced a new
digital requirement that replaces the old paper forms handed out on planes.
Requirement: All travelers must complete an e-Arrival (Disembarkation) Form before
landing.
Timing: This can be done up to 72 hours before you arrive.
Where to find it: It is available on the same official visa portal: indianvisaonline.gov.in
Insurance Requirements
For Guests Travelling with New Era Tours (New Zealand)
At New Era Tours, the safety and wellbeing of our guests is a top priority. Travelling
internationally can involve unexpected events, and comprehensive travel insurance
is an essential part of responsible trip planning.
For this reason, all guests travelling with New Era Tours are required to obtain
comprehensive travel and medical insurance for the full duration of the tour.
Minimum Insurance Coverage Requirements
Your travel insurance policy must include, at a minimum:
• Overseas medical and hospital expenses
• Emergency medical evacuation and repatriation
• Trip cancellation and interruption cover
• Personal liability cover
• Loss, theft or damage to personal belongings
• Travel delay or disruption cover
The policy must remain valid for the entire duration of your journey, including your
international travel dates.
Proof of Insurance: Guests may be requested to provide proof of travel insurance
prior to departure. It is your responsibility to ensure that the policy purchased meets
your personal needs and adequately covers the activities included in the tour
itinerary.
Pre-Existing Medical Conditions
If you have any pre-existing medical conditions, please ensure they are disclosed to
your insurance provider and that your policy covers them where required.
New Era Tours cannot provide medical advice regarding insurance coverage. Guests
should consult directly with their insurance provider to ensure appropriate coverage
is in place.
Responsibility of Travellers
By booking a tour with New Era Tours, guests acknowledge that:
• Travel insurance is mandatory
• It is the traveller’s responsibility to obtain suitable insurance coverage
• New Era Tours is not responsible for any financial losses, medical expenses,
or travel disruptions that could have been covered by travel insurance
We strongly recommend arranging travel insurance at the time of booking to ensure
you are covered for any unforeseen circumstances that may affect your travel plans.
Geopolitical Awareness: Rajasthan & Global Context
At New Era Tours NZ, we believe in "Traveling with Clarity." While
Rajasthan remains one of the world's most peaceful and welcoming
cultural destinations, we recognize that current tensions in the Middle
East have raised valid questions for our Kiwi travelers.
1. Our Intention
Our primary goal is to deliver an authentic, high-vibe Diwali experience
in Rajasthan while ensuring the safety and logistical ease of our group.
We do not ignore global headlines; we monitor them 24/7 so you don’t
have to. We intend to proceed with all 2026 departures as long as
Rajasthan remains at SafeTravel NZ Level 2 or below and international
flight corridors remain viable.
2. Our Policy: Conflict & Airspace
Safety Threshold: If the NZ Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFAT) raises the
advisory for our specific Rajasthan route to "Do Not Travel," New Era
Tours NZ will automatically suspend the departure.
Transit Hubs: We have shifted our preferred flight partners to bypass
Middle Eastern airspace entirely, providing you with stable schedules
and avoiding the current "War Exclusions" found in many travel
insurance policies.
Price Stability: While global fuel prices are volatile, once you have
paid your tour deposit, your land package price is locked in. We will not
pass on "geopolitical surcharges" for the land portion of your trip.
3. Course of Action (If things change)
Pre-Departure: If a major escalation occurs 30+ days before Diwali,
we will hold a group Zoom briefing to discuss rerouting options or date
shifts.
In-Country: Should regional tensions affect airspace while we are in
India, New Era Tours NZ will coordinate directly with the NZ High
Commission in New Delhi. Our local ground team has years of
experience navigating Indian logistics and will assist in prioritize securing
"Eastern-corridor" flights for the group's return.
Communication: All travelers will be added to an encrypted WhatsApp
"Status Channel" for real-time updates from our Auckland office.
4. Travel Insurance: The "Kiwi Reality"
In 2026, most NZ insurers (SCTI, Allianz, etc.) strictly exclude claims
arising from "War or Military Operations."
What is NOT covered: You generally cannot claim a refund if you cancel
because you feel "uneasy" about the conflict.
What IS covered: Medical emergencies in India, theft, or cancellations
due to non-conflict reasons (like personal illness) remain fully covered
under standard policies.
Recommendation: We strongly advise all New Era travelers to look
into "Cancel for Any Reason" (CFAR) add-ons or to book "Flexi-fare"
flights to protect their airfare investment.
Thank you for choosing to travel with New Era Tours. We look forward to
sharing an unforgettable journey through Rajasthan with you.
